Scratch Gravy

Use homemade stock as your base.


  • 2 TBL Butter
  • 2 TBL Homemade or Canned Stock
  • 4 TBL Flour
    Once this has cooked, you will need
  • 1 TBL Corn Starch
  • 1 C WATER
  • 1/2 C Homemade or Canned Stock


  1. Take 2 TBL butter and melt on medium neat until it starts to brown.
  2. Add stock and flour
  3. Stir until starts to “kind of” brown
  4. Mix corn starch in with the stock
  5. Add in 1 CU water and 1/2 C Stock
  6. Return to a near boil
  7. Continue to stir with whisk until thickened.
  8. If you have lumps, run it through a sieve.
