Mainly it is cut strips of flank steak, sirloin steak, or round steak. Cut against the grain. Beef tenderloin is the best but more expensive.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 LB steak with lots of marbling
- 3 TBL flour
- 1 tsp corn starch
- 1/2 TBL Grandpa's Thunder Powder or Arghhh Powder
- 2 TBL butter
- 2 TBL evoo
- Onions (slivered)
- Mushrooms (heavily sauteed)
- 1 carrot (julienne strips)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 C beef or chicken broth
- 1/2 tsp mustard powder
- 1 TBL tomato paste
- 1 TBL Worcestershire sauce
- 2 C uncooked egg noodles
- 1/2 C light sour cream
Step by Step
- Cut 1 LB steak into thin strips against the grain
- Combine flour, corn starch and Grandpa's Thunder Powder or Arghhh Powder
- Grill strips LIGHTLY in butter and EVOO, then set aside.
- In remaining oil, add mushrooms and cook till browned
- Add the onion slivers and cook till transluscent
- Add the carrots and garlic
- Remove veggies
- Add the tomato paste and cook till it starts to brown
- Add broth, mustard powder, and Worcestershire Sauce
- Stir to combine, then add 1 cup stock and noodles
- Let simmer 20 minutes
- Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 C sour cream
