– Bake 25 minutes

Scratch Option
Ingredients
- 2 C butter, cubed
- 6 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chips or chopped
- 1/2 C cocoa
- 6 large eggs
- 2 TBL flax seed
- 2 C white granulated sugar
- 2 C brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp instant coffee
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 C all-purpose flour
- 3 C chopped walnuts
- Confectioner sugar, optional for topping
Step by Step
- Grease and flour a 9×12 inch baking pan
- Preheat oven to 350º
- In a saucepan, melt butter over low heat
- Add chocolate and stir until melted, then remove from heat
- In a large bowl cream together eggs, sugar, vanilla and salt
- Stir in chocolate mixture
- Add flour (and optional walnuts)
- Spread into greased/floured 9×12 baking dish
- Bake 35-40 minutes, or until toothpick comes out nearly clean – IT IS BETTER TO UNDER-BAKE THAN IT IS TO OVER-BAKE
- Cool completed in pan set on a wire rack
- After 15 minutes, invert pan onto rack and let cool another 15 minutes
- Place on a cutting board, then cut into bars

Fudge Brownie Topping
- 6 tablespoons butter, softened
- 2-2/3 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 1/2 cup baking cocoa
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup whole milk ± about 105º
