- 1.5 LB ground sirloin
- 1 C each diced onion, cubed Yukon gold potato, carrots, cabbage
- 1/2 C sliced celery
- 2 C cooked tomatoes
- 1/4 C rice
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/2 tsp thyme
- 4 basil leaves
- 4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- 1.5 QT water
- Brown sirloin
- Add onion near the end of the browning process
- Add vegetables
- Cook 8-10 minutes
- Add spices and water and rice
- Return to a boil, then reduce to simmer
- Allow to simmer for one hour
- Serve topped with shredded cheddar cheese or grated Parmesan
