Pretzel Cheese Dipping Sauce

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 2½ tbsp All-purpose flour
  • ½ cup Milk
  • ¾ cup Beer
  • 1½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Mustard powder (½ tsp if you’re not a mustard fan)
  • ½ tsp Garlic powder
  • 2 cups (8 oz) Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • Pinch of Salt and pepper to taste

STEP BY STEP

  1. Melt the butter in a sauce pan over medium heat.
  2. Add flour and whisk until you’ve got a paste like substance.
  3. Add a splash of milk, and while continuously stirring,
  4. Add a splash of beer, and while continuously stirring,
  5. Add the  Worcestershire sauce while continuously stirring.
  6. Add the remaining milk and beer, while continuously stirring.
  7. Stir until smooth, then add mustard powder and garlic powder.
  8. Continue to heat and whisk until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
  9. Turn heat to low and add shredded cheese, one ½ cup at a time, stirring continuously until cheese has completely melted and the sauce is smooth.
  10. Add salt and pepper to taste, serve immediately.
  11. To prevent congealing, serve in a small crock pot or fondue dish over heat.
